Engineer Lead Forward Deployed Engineer at MongoDB

Lead technical strategy and organizational direction for a deployed engineer function while mentoring senior engineers and serving as primary escalation for high-stakes customer and internal technical challenges.

Lead Hybrid Posted about 21 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Lead Forward Deployed Engineers (FDE) are the most senior technical leaders in the FDE organization. They own the overall technical strategy for the FDE domain, not just individual engagements, and are accountable for how the entire function operates, scales, and improves over time. They set direction across multiple concurrent engagements, teams, and quarters, and are the technical voice the organization relies on when stakes, ambiguity, or cross-functional complexity are highest. This role sits at the intersection of technical depth, organizational strategy, and people leadership, setting the technical bar for the function, shaping how Product and Engineering prioritize based on field reality, and developing the next generation of Staff-level FDEs.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in New York City for our hybrid working model.

Responsibilities

  • Own the FDE organization’s overall engagement strategy, serving as the primary technical escalation point across the portfolio for the highest-risk, highest-visibility, and most ambiguous situations
  • Act as the trusted technical counterpart to customer executives and internal VP/executive stakeholders on strategic bets, major risks, and cross-portfolio tradeoffs
  • Set the technical architecture standards and design principles that govern how the FDE domain builds customer-facing solutions and platform capabilities, turning organization-level ambiguity into coherent multi-quarter technical strategy
  • Stay hands-on where it matters most, writing and reviewing code and personally unblocking the hardest technical failures to keep the organization’s technical bar grounded in reality
  • Own the translation of field-wide patterns into the FDE domain’s long-term technical vision, representing that vision to Product and Engineering executive leadership and defending multi-quarter roadmap tradeoffs
  • Own the technical growth and career development of FDEs through mentorship, coaching, and calibration of the org’s technical bar, and play a lead role in hiring and leveling decisions
  • Serve as the final point of technical judgment when the team is deadlocked, and represent the FDE function in executive and cross-org planning forums

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, including a demonstrated track record of hands-on technical leadership in production systems and complex enterprise environments
  • Demonstrated success setting technical strategy and direction at an organizational level, shaping how an entire function operates rather than leading initiatives within a single team
  • Proven experience designing and directing production-grade integrations, platforms, or distributed systems across multiple concurrent engagements or teams
  • Excellent technical judgment under high ambiguity, with a track record of making and being accountable for organization-level tradeoffs between customer impact, speed, maintainability, and risk
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and align VP/executive-level stakeholders, internally and at customer organizations, on strategic technical direction
  • Track record of developing senior and staff-level engineers through mentorship, coaching, and technical calibration, with willingness to travel up to 30% for executive engagements and technical reviews
  • Preferred: experience setting technical strategy for LLM, agent framework, retrieval, evaluation, or production AI systems at an organizational level, prior experience as a Staff-level FDE, and experience contributing to hiring bar-raising or leveling frameworks at organizational scale

Engineer Senior Backend Engineer, Growth (US) at Nanit

Senior backend engineer builds and ships services powering growth features like paywalls, subscriptions, and experimentation infrastructure for a parenting app.

Senior Hybrid Posted about 21 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Nanit is moving families beyond overwhelm by transforming how parents understand their baby’s early years. We combine advanced AI, real-world data from billions of sleep hours, and clinical expertise to deliver the clarity and confidence every parent deserves. Trusted by over one million families and backed by $125M in funding, we’re building an entirely new category: predictive parenting intelligence.

Here, your work directly impacts millions of families. Our team of scientists, engineers, and parents is small but mighty - we share a mission to make early childhood easier, healthier, and more connected. If you want to work on technology that genuinely matters, join us.

You’ll be the founding backend engineer on a new Growth team - a cross-functional squad owning the full customer funnel, from a parent first considering Nanit through purchase, subscription, engagement, and eventually referring to us or buying again. You’ll also be the first R&D engineer based at our US site, hybrid, with your manager and the rest of the team in a different time zone - so you’ll need to hold context, make decisions, unblock yourself, and know when a question is worth raising rather than waiting on a sync. Your closest day-to-day partners will be mobile engineers and product managers

What You’ll Be Doing

  1. Own the backend behind growth bets. Build and ship the services powering paywalls, subscription tiering, onboarding journeys, in-app messaging, referral mechanics, trial models, and checkout bundling.

  2. Make growth measurable. Build and extend the experimentation and instrumentation layer - feature flags, experiment assignment, event tracking - so every bet the team makes can be evaluated on real data rather than opinion.

  3. Work end to end across the funnel. Move between acquisition, activation, and retention work as the roadmap demands, rather than owning a single narrow surface.

  4. Partner tightly with mobile and product. Most of what you build is consumed by our iOS and Android apps. You’ll design API contracts in conversation with the engineers using them and with the PMs shaping the experiments.

  5. Operate with high agency. Take ambiguous problems, decide on an approach, communicate it clearly in writing, and ship. Escalate deliberately, not by default.

  6. Set the pattern for US engineering at Nanit. How you work - documentation, async communication, on-call, review habits - becomes the template for everyone who follows.

  7. Anchor on-call coverage in your time zone. Be first responder for production alerts during your working hours, extending the backend group toward true follow-the-sun coverage. Triage, mitigate, escalate what you can’t, and hand off open threads in writing.

  8. Contribute to the backend guild. Help drive best practices, guidelines, and standards across R&D, and keep the US perspective represented in them.

Qualifications

  1. Professional Experience: 5+ years of backend software development with strong coding skills and solid experience in software design and architecture.
  2. Proven Autonomy: Demonstrated success working with significant independence - ideally in a distributed team with limited timezone overlap with your manager or peers.
  3. Written Communication: Excellent asynchronous communication. You write clearly enough that decisions and context survive without a meeting.
  4. Product Mindset: Comfort with ambiguity and with shipping to learn. You care about the outcome metric, not only the ticket.
  5. High-Scale Systems: Experience with critical production systems and techniques like load balancing, caching, and distributed systems.
  6. Web Services: Proficiency designing and maintaining APIs consumed by mobile clients (REST, gRPC, WebSocket).
  7. Experimentation and Analytics: Hands-on experience with A/B testing infrastructure, feature flags, and event instrumentation (e.g., Unleash, Mixpanel).
  8. Testing: Solid experience in testing methodologies and test automation frameworks.
  9. Monitoring and Observability: Proficient with tools like Grafana and Prometheus.
  10. Delivery Track Record: Proven experience delivering backend projects successfully.
  11. Agile Familiarity: Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  12. Containers and Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes is an advantage.

Preferred Skills

  1. Experience with consumer subscription products - billing, plan tiering, App Store and Google Play in-app purchases, or Stripe.
  2. Prior work on a growth, monetization, or lifecycle team.
  3. Ability to independently take a concept from research to production.
  4. Enthusiasm for new technologies and willingness to explore them.
  5. Commitment to well-crafted and rigorously tested code.
  6. Willingness to travel to Tel Aviv for onboarding and periodically thereafter.

Why You’ll Love Working Here:

  • Hybrid in-office schedule
  • Remote work from home month in August
  • Flexible PTO (we trust you to take the time you need)
  • Equity options so you can share in our growth
  • Paid parental leave for all new parents
  • Employee discounts on Nanit products
  • Work from home stipend
  • Monthly team events

What We Offer

We provide an innovative and inclusive work environment, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth. We believe in productivity rather than hours on the clock and value collaboration and innovative thinking. We take pride in our customer satisfaction and believe that our success comes from delivering exceptional value to our customers.

EEO, Salary and Location:

This is a hybrid role that will require prospective candidates to be in our NYC office 2-3 days per week.

Salary Range: $180 to $200 base salary + equity and benefits. The base pay is one component of Nanit’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, and basic life insurance. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.

We are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. We provide employment opportunities without regard to age, race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any other protected class.

Engineer Lead Forward Deployed Engineer at MongoDB

Senior technical leader sets engineering strategy, mentors staff-level engineers, and handles highest-complexity customer escalations across the deployed engineering organization.

Engineer Senior Applications Engineer (West Coast) at Standard Bots

Senior Applications Engineer designs and builds robotic automation solutions for industrial customers, combining mechanical, electrical, and software expertise to create POCs and oversee full system implementation and deployment.

Senior Hybrid Posted 3 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

About Standard Bots

Standard Bots is building the next generation of industrial robots – hardware that’s powerful, affordable, and designed to scale. We’re the largest U.S. industrial robotics company by robots shipped, and our robots are showing up on factory floors everywhere from independent machine shops to NASA and Lockheed Martin.

Note: This role is technically remote, but you must live on the west coast (preference for California). This job is customer-facing and requires up to 50% domestic travel, Monday through Friday. If that makes you nervous, this probably isn’t the right fit. If that sounds like a perk, read on.

Also note: This is not a software engineering role. If you’re looking for a job where you sit at a desk and write application code, this is the wrong job description. If you want to actually build things, wire things up, and watch them run – keep reading.

The Role

The Senior Applications Engineer is one of the rarest profiles in industrial automation – and one of the most important roles at Standard Bots.

You’re not a mechanical engineer. You’re not an electrical engineer. You’re not a software engineer. You’re all three, and you know how to make them talk to each other. You can look at a customer’s production line, understand what’s broken or slow or manual, and figure out how to fix it with a robot. Then you build the proof of concept, get on a plane, and go install it.

From pre to post sale, you’re the one working closely with the sales team to make the solution real. You’ll build the proof of concept, design the integration, write the python scripts, build the fixture, run the wiring, and commission the cell – then train the customer’s team on how to use it. You’ll also help run demos at trade shows, support trainings at customer sites and in our shop, and be the technical backbone for every customer engagement that requires hands-on expertise.

This is a builder’s role. Tinkerers welcome. People who get bored at a desk are strongly encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Do

Solution Design & Proof of Concept

- Work with the sales team and customers to understand automation goals, production constraints, and integration requirements

- Design practical, buildable solutions around Standard Bots’ hardware – and build the proof of concept yourself to validate it works before anyone signs anything

- Develop application notes, sample code, and supporting documentation that help customers and internal teams understand how to replicate and scale solutions

Field Installation & Integration

- Travel to customer sites to install, program, wire, and commission robotic cells

- Own the integration from mechanical setup through software configuration – fixtures, I/O, PLC handshakes, safety, test, sign-off

- Troubleshoot on-site when things don’t go as planned (and sometimes they don’t) – you stay until it works

Customer Training & Support

- Train customer operators and technicians on Standard Bots hardware and software – both on-site and at our facility

- Support customers post-install as they find new applications and push the limits of what the robot can do

- Be a trusted technical resource for the accounts you’ve worked with – they’ll call you when something comes up

Trade Shows & Demos

- Represent Standard Bots at industry events and trade shows – build the demo, run it live, talk shop with engineers and plant managers on the floor

- Help develop and maintain demo systems that show the breadth of what Standard Bots hardware can do

Internal Collaboration

- Feed real-world integration learnings back to our hardware and software engineering teams – you’re on the front lines and your input shapes the product

- Assist in-house engineering with testing new features, peripherals, and integrations as we expand the platform

What We’re Looking For

- A genuine trifecta: you’re comfortable with mechanical systems, electrical systems, and software – not just one of the three

- 6+ years of hands-on experience with industrial automation fundamentals: PLC programming and ladder logic, pneumatics, DC power systems (you know the difference between NPN and PNP), robot programming (any platform), and Python scripting

- Proficiency with CAD – SolidWorks preferred, but we care more that you can design and think in 3D than which tool you use

- Customer-facing experience – you can explain a technical integration to an engineer, a plant manager, and an ops director in the same conversation and land differently with each one

- A genuine bias for getting things done in the field, not just in theory – you’d rather build it than write about it

- Comfort with up to 50% domestic travel; this role is hands-on and on-site by nature

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline – or equivalent hands-on experience that tells the same story

Nice to Have

- Prior experience with collaborative robots (UR, Fanuc, KUKA, ABB, or similar)

- Familiarity with machine tending, palletizing, welding, or assembly automation applications

- Experience with vision systems, force/torque sensing, or custom end-of-arm tooling

- Background in a manufacturing or production environment – you’ve worked on or near a factory floor before

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $150,000 to $200,000, depending on experience. We are open to a variety of seniority levels for this role and will build compensation packages that are commensurate with seniority and skill level. Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at Standard Bots. All Full-Time Employees are eligible for Employee Stock Options. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees.
